Along with Scripture Journaling, Discipleship Huddles are a core component of life at Palmdale UMC. A disciple is a learner, an apprentice, in the way of Jesus. Following Jesus is what the life of faith is all about. Huddles are short-term, 90-minute, small group gatherings that give you a handle on several simple and profound tools that will deepen your faith. There are two basic Huddle experiences that you're invited to be a part of, before getting involved in an ongoing Huddle with friends, family & church members.
HUDDLE I - Learning to hear God speak into our life.
In this 7-week course, you'll learn how to take any event/experience in your life, and work through what God might be saying to you through it. You'll also discover how to get a handle on the basics of the Christian faith, finding your true identity in God, read the Bible devotionally, look for "persons of peace" (relationships you already have that God is at work in), discover the prerequisite for fruitfulness, and you will draw intimately closer to a small group of people, like yourself!
HUDDLE II - Learning how God has wired us for ministry.
In this 6-week course, you'll add to the Huddle "basics" from the first course, and deepen your spiritual life as you begin to discover how God has "wired" you for ministry (in the local church & beyond). You'll be able to better prioritize your spirtual life, determine which "ministry role(s)" you most identify with (apostle, prophet, shepherd, evangelist, teacher), learn a system for discipling others, and receive deep & probing questions to help you continue to deepen your discipleship. Plus, following this course, you'll be equipped to embark on your own ongoing Discipleship Huddle with friends & family!
Huddles I & II will be offered several times a year...
